Bible Notes Merger
Merge two backups of your Bible study notes, highlights, bookmarks, tags and playlists into one, choosing what to keep wherever they differ. It all happens in your browser.
Your backups never leave this device. They're opened and merged right here in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
1 Choose your backups
Choose two or more .jwlibrary backup files, for example one from your phone and one from your tablet.
You can also open just one to read its notes, save its playlists' pictures or clean it up.
- {{ number(item.value) }} {{ item.label }}
2 Compare them
| {{ files.length === 2 ? 'In both' : 'In all' }} | In some | Only in File {{ i + 1 }} | Different | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| {{ row.label }} | {{ number(row.all) }} | {{ number(row.some) }} | 0 | {{ number(row.conflicts) }} |
The merged backup has everything that's ticked. Something deleted from one backup but still in another comes back, since a merge can't tell something deleted from something that was never there. If you deleted things on one device, untick what's only in the other backups.
3 Choose what to keep
{{ analysis.conflicts.length === 1 ? 'One thing is' : number(analysis.conflicts.length) + ' things are' }} different between the backups. Each one starts with the suggested version (the one changed last), so you can just check them, or pick another. The backups are merged in order, so later choices can change when you change earlier ones.
{{ group.help }}
{{ conflict.title }}
{{ conflict.summary }}
{{ analysis.conflicts.length ? 4 : 3 }} Download the merged backup
{{ outputName }}Downloaded {{ result.fileName }}
- {{ number(item.value) }} {{ item.label }}
Cleaned up: {{ tidiedText(result.tidied) }}.
Checked: the merged database is sound, and every note, highlight and tag points at something that's there.
How to restore the merged backup
- On the device, first make a new backup of what's on it now, just in case.
- Copy the merged
.jwlibraryfile to the device (or open it there). - In JW Library, open Settings, then Backup and Restore, and choose Restore a Backup. Or just open the file from your files app or an email.
- Restoring replaces everything on that device with what's in the merged backup.
